BVCA Noticeboards

The BVCA have 7 community noticeboards across the village that have been donated by local Councils and businesses including Buckshaw Village Surgery, RMG, Chorley BC, South Ribble BC, Redrow/Barratt Homes, Lancashire County Council etc.

The noticeboards have been installed to provide residents with general information pertaining to the local area including information about BVCA activities and events, PACT meetings, local Councillors as well as other community groups and local businesses. To enquire about placing a notice or flyer in the noticeboards please contact us here.

In recent months, the BVCA has seen an increased demand for the noticeboards and as such has begun to charge local businesses for the space as a revenue generator for the BVCA to help cover the cost to repair the noticeboards and our other running costs. The noticeboards also offer a limited number of free advertising spaces to community groups/events and these are currently allocated on a first-come-first-served basis for all. 5 of the 7 noticeboards have space for advertising.

The noticeboard at the Community Centre has no advertising space; it is used for BVCA information as well as information pertaining to the community centre itself. The noticeboard at Buckshaw Parkway station is reserved for the use of any community group within Buckshaw to display community information and interested groups are able to access the notice board by retrieving the keys from the station ticket office.

From January 2012 the Noticeboard Policy is set to change and the revised BVCA Noticeboard policy will be available on these pages shortly.

Why change the policy?

Once our agreements with local businesses come to an end (at the end of December 2011), a new policy guaranteeing free space for community groups and not-for-profit organisations will be in place from January 2012. The key changes to the noticeboard policy includes guaranteed space for up to 6 not for profit organisations to advertise on a monthly basis. Another key change sees that the boards will be updated on a monthly basis which is much more manageable for the team of volunteers receiving flyers and updating all boards.

Why have a policy at all?

The demand for the noticeboard space is currently so high that a policy makes sure that each group or business is treated in the same way. If you have any questions relating to the noticeboard space allocation please contact us here.

Why are only 5 BVCA noticeboards used for advertising?

Two of the noticeboards are kept advert-free. The agreement when the Buckshaw Parkway noticeboard was first erected (Dec 2011) is that 50% is for Buckshaw community information and 50% for community rail information; there is therefore no space for advertising.

The noticeboard at the Community Centre is kept advert-free also as this is regularly used to display BVCA and village information in detail i.e. planning applications, general meeting minutes, BVCA constitution changes. The space is changeable, therefore can not be guarunteed as a regular advertising space for groups/businesses.

I can’t get my flyer in the noticeboards – how else can the BVCA help?

  • Anyone is welcome to register for our BVCA forum and post details of your business or upcoming event.
  • BVCA also offer village-wide leaflet drops on a regular basis (full details will be on our website soon), but again this is on a first-come first-served basis and there is generally an 8 week lead time so you’ll have to be very organised!!
  • If you are a community group or not-for-profit organisation you can place flyers/notices at the Buckshaw Community Centre on the internal noticeboard marked for ‘Other Community Groups’ use.
  • If it’s an event on Buckshaw that is for the benefit of the community, we’ll gladly post details on our BVCA latest news homepage – send details to bvca@buckshaw.org
