Building on the success of last year’s festive celebration, the BVCA have big plans for 2011. On 4th December the BVCA will be turning the Buckshaw Community Centre into a winter wonderland, with Santa visiting all day as well as a few surprises too!
10am – 1pm Festive Farmers Market
One of the regions fastest growing farmers markets with 35 stalls offering fantastic local produce and crafts - perfect for Christmas gifts! BVCA are working hard to secure newcomers all the time – with 7 new stallholders this December including ‘The Laughing Dog’ and also delicious homemade soups. As well as crafts for the kids, a free activity offered by Buckshaw Village Church, they’ll be face painting, traditional sandwiches by Country Hog Roast and hot chocolate treats to warm you up from Dippy Doos.
Santa will also be visiting the farmers market and children are invited to enjoy ‘Storytime with Santa’. Children can snuggle up next to the fire and hear a festive tale to get them ready for the big day. They’ll be three timeslots for this during the farmers market, 10.30, 11.15 and 12pm with a little treat for each child at just £1/child.
3pm – 5pm Sleeping Beauty Pantomime
Following last year’s sell-out performance, join the BVCA this Christmas for another magical journey into the land of Pantomime – “Oh no you wont?! Oh yes you will!”. We've arranged for a professional touring Pantomime company to perform Sleeping Beauty at Buckshaw Community Centre. Rainbow Treats Trike will also be on hand for that all important interval ice cream and the BVCA Tuck Shop will have plenty to offer too!
Tickets for Sleeping Beauty are available here or by visiting the box office at the Community Centre between 10:30 - 2:30 each Saturday (payments accepted by cash or cheque).

Buckshaw Youth Band will be leading the community in carols around the tree before two pupils from Buckshaw Trinity Primary countdown and turn on the lights! Following the lights switch on, Buckshaw Youth Band will entertain locals in the main hall with traditional and modern classics and Buckshaw VAMP (village amateur musical performers) will have a special preview performance.
