The National Big Lunch comes to Buckshaw – Buckshaw is taking part in this one day event where communities are encouraged to eat and play together in a national picnic day.
Coinciding with the Buckshaw Village Community Association’s quarterly Farmers market, Buckshaw community hall plays host to 40 stalls of delicious locally produced food, treats and crafts from the finest producers across Lancashire. Sample everything from homemade jams and chutneys to home-reared meats and locally crafted unique homeware and gifts.
Locals are encouraged to bring a picnic blanket and enjoy the best in local food including hot pie and peas from Shirley’s Pies, fresh hot sandwiches from Dalesbred Finest Meats, a Hog Roast, Venison burgers from Auldene Wild Venison and special treats from Dippy Doos Chocolate Wagon & a Rainbow Treats Trike full of delicious Ice Cream.
While you’re enjoying your lunch, local community groups and businesses will be offering a range of community activities, including a fruit & veg treasure hunt, crafts activities for the children, Beat the Goalie from Buckshaw Village Church, cycling agility courses with South Ribble Valley Junior Cycling Club, music from Buckshaw Youth Band, facepainting, bouncy castle and a chance to win a hamper full of farmers market goodies.
All local Chorley and Leyland residents are welcome, so come along and fill your cupboards with wonderful local food, buy something wonderful for lunch or bring your own and simply partake in the fundraising community activities.
