Southern Commercial Area

Eden Park Developments have had their planning application accepted to build a £10 million commercial and retail centre which will be situated on the south side of the village.
Along with Tesco which is already in-situ, twelve other retails units which could provide a whole range of village stores/businesses. The scheme also includes a mix of one and two bedroom apartments and three and four bedroom houses.
Neal Dale, spokesperson at Eden Park Developments who are responsible for the build stated, 'We have installed the infrastructure on site; our Contractor has installed the roads and sewers that will serve the development. Tenders have just been returned for the retail units/apartments that we intend to build, which we are going through at the moment.
We have a good level of interest from parties of varying types for units. Latest letting status has been agreed for the following : Estats Agents, Fish & Chip Shop, Italian Restaurant with deli, Indian Take-away (with small bar) and a Charity Shop. Other uses we are anticipating coming into the centre include a Hairdresser, Betting shop (dependant on the delivery of the pub/sports bar nearby), Chinese take-away and a Coffee shop'.
Due to the slump in the building market Eden Park were forced to postpone the development during 2011. Most recent information received in 2012 from Eden Park included this update: 'We are working with the Bank at present who are looking at lending money for the first phase of the retail development at Buckshaw. A sign of the times but this process is very detailed and takes quite a long time to sort out. All things considered we hope to make a start on site for March/April this year'.
