The Trinity Church of England/Methodist Primary School operated by the Blackburn Church of England Diocese and the Chorley Methodist Circuit, opened September 2010.
The school design is state of the art with brand new facilities including a full IT suite, stage with lighting rig, top of the range teaching technology and it prides itself on having an inclusive and positive school environment that nurtures and celebrates achievement. The school runs monthly tour days, where parents are invited to tour the school and view the facilities - for more information contact headteacher, Jill Wright.
What is the admission policy of the school?
The school received a good number of applications for 2011-12's intake of pupils with 44 applications for 30 reception class places.
Lancashire County Council (LCC) use a strict set of criteria to determine successful admission to Trinity. First preference is given to children in public care. Children whose parents live within the Buckshaw estate are given the next priority (a map showing the boundaries is available at the school) with a preference given to those children who have a sibling attending the school already. If the quota of 30 has not been reached by that point, then children who's parents live outside the Buckshaw estate are offered a place.
Of 2011's intake of 30, 10 successful applicants had siblings already at the school and the remaining 20 lived on Buckshaw village, within 350m of the school. If a Buckshaw parent does not already have a sibling at the school, its safe to assume that the closer your proximity to the school, the better your child's chances of successful admission.
The school's admission policy can be viewed in full here.
How many children attend the school?
The school currently has 192 pupils and capacity for 210. There are pupil vacancies in Years 5 and 6 currently (time of writing Nov 2011) and for more information on sending your child directly into Years 5/6 please contact Headteacher, Jill Wright on the details above.
Where can I send my child if they don't get a place at Trinity?
Information on local schools and how to apply can be found on LCC's website here.
When will Trinity be visited by OfSted?
A new build primary school has 2 years to establish itself before it migrates onto OfSted's register. As soon as Trinity has been visitied and graded by OfSted we will post the details here.
Isn't the school supposed to be a double form entry school? i.e. two schools in one
The school footprint was designed so that if necessary, it could be extended to be a double form entry school. It is operating as a single form entry school currently and LCC have no plans to extend the current building. LCC assess the 'basic need' in the area for primary schooling; this means that until all primary schools within a 2 mile radius of Trinity are full, they would not consider extending Trinity or any other primary school within that distance.
Does Trinity run a breakfast club or after school club?
The school's breakfast and after-school club is operated by The Hub Nursery (across the road from Trinity) - The Hub Club. For more information please contact The Hub directly.
